What The F Is Disney?. Top Story - November 2024.
January 2024, France. Past the admission gates of Disneyland Paris, five-past-eight in the morning, my girlfriend and I were freezing in the bitter winter air, wrapped, waiting to enter “the happiest place on Earth”.

Dear Peggy. Top Story - November 2024.
Dear Peggy, I would’ve titled this story “Dear Mama” but I know Peggy annoys you more. From me to you I guess you’ll remember the season of Thanksgiving as one of the main events when I come by your house and eat up all your food, especially banana pudding, but as shocking as it may be, Thanksgiving is also the time when I reflect on how thankful I am to have you as a mother.

The Story of the Realm. Top Story - November 2024.
The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished. Rook looked up from the playbook. “That sounds cool.” “Maybe for you,” grumbled Bishop, his grey eyes narrowing. “All my merchant barges will flow your direction now.”

A Fine Line Between Intoxicating and Toxic Friendships and Relationships. Top Story - November 2024.
There is a fine line between intoxicating and toxic friendships and relationships. Sometimes, the most pleasurable, amazing things that we feel, are so intoxicating at first. When you make a friend, there’s that new relationship energy that flows and energizes our soul. There is a rush of positive feelings. It feels good. Some people call it NRE (New Relationship Energy). With time though, sometimes relationships turn into toxic situations. Toxic relationships can occur within friendships, relationships, and familial relationships.

If Only I Ran Faster. Top Story - November 2024.
The river ran backwards on the day the queen vanished. It was a feeble attempt to reverse time or at least try to see if she had tragically floated down it, yet it was useless. She was gone. And it shattered me completely.

Carus Pater. Top Story - November 2024.
Dear Dad, It's been a while, and for that too I am grateful... you don't need me to tell you that it's a little complicated between us right now, and has been for a long time. We don't talk, not since you told me that I'm not your daughter anymore, but I still think of you as my dad - I guess I always will. So here it is, the truth without glamour or bitterness; I'm not sure I like you, but I love you. I'm not sure I wish things were different, or that I can say truthfully that you have been a good father any more than I could say honestly that you have been a bad one...

Fairy Tales. Top Story - November 2024.
“The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished.” At least it was supposed to. That’s what they promised, the prophecy guaranteed. It didn’t, of course, though they kept claiming it truly happened at his command.

Elflock. Top Story - November 2024.
Elflock: a lock of hair, fancifully regarded as having been tangled by the elves My Connection: I have very fine hair that tangles easily. Therefore combing and brushing out matted hair has been a constant routine for me since childhood. I think it would be quite fantastic if those terrible tangles were the work of sneaky mythical creatures. There's something about making the mundane magical that makes me smile, so I hope this poem inspires a grin or two.

Small Things Like These. Top Story - November 2024.
I read Claire Keegan’s Small Things Like These a couple of years ago. I watched the film produced and starring Cillian Murphy yesterday. “They” say films never live up to the book. I’m not sure I agree with whoever “they” are.

The patchwork quilt. Top Story - November 2024.
Nestled in a grove of stately oaks, a small, welcoming cabin stood like a peaceful refuge against the crisp autumn air. The earthy brown walls of the wooden hut glowed softly in the golden light of the setting sun.

Flight of the Tide Pilots. Runner-Up in Fantasy Prologue II Challenge. Top Story - November 2024.
The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished. I was awoken by a rumble like a broadhead stampede passing through our farmhouse. I rolled off my bed and under its frame. My little brother, Edgard, was already under his – barely two years old, his eyes as wide as owls.

The Sundering. Top Story - November 2024.
The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished. It was the final whisper of doom, the ghost of a portent unseen, for in those days the art of reading such things had been long lost to men. Something long chained had been loosed; woeful calamity befell the realms of men, one upon the other. These estranged and wayward misfortunes had hitherto not been fathomed as one singular ruin. And so, when the sun shone bright and brilliant, many thought it the first day of summer and not the end of the world.
