My portion of a random social media debate on increasing USA violence
23FEB2022; 0945, WED There's a lot of 17 year olds in the U.S. military. They all have guns. Inanimate objects aren't the problem. It's the evil, desperation, and hopelessness inside of our youth that's the problem.

Facts Matter
Facts really do matter. Social media makes it easy to create content on any subject matter. Sharing an opinion is the right of any creator and should not be censored. Masquerading content as news, however, carries a greater opportunity to spread misinformation faster than any time in history. Some content is deliberately created so sow discontent or mistrust or to promote a political agenda. Other content is produced by individuals who genuinely believe that what they are sharing is true, but they failed to do enough research.

The Ballad of Secret RTÉ Producer.
The age of the internet has brought about a golden age for whistlblowing, boycotting, and well known secrets. Whether it's the Me Too movement, Black Lives Matter (and affiliates), or Wikileaks, the internet has proven its ability to shed light on the darker corners of those in charge in every country.

Nigerian Government Bans Twitter in Nigeria, Orders Prosecution of Offenders
Nigerian Government Bans Twitter in Nigeria, Orders Prosecution of Offenders In the latest retrogressive actions by the Nigerian Government, the use of the popular social platform "Twitter" has been banned in Nigeria indefinitely. The news reached the citizens of the country yesterday via one of the government accounts on Twitter "Federal Ministry of Information & Culture (FMIC)". It tweeted: "The Federal Government has suspended, indefinitely, the operations of the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced the suspension in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, citing the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria's corporate existence. The Minister said the Federal Government has also directed the National Broadcasting l Commission (NBC) to immediately commence the process of licensing all OTT and social media operations in Nigeria. Segun Adeyemi Special Assistant To The President (Media) Office of the Minister of Information and Culture Abuja 4 June 2021" This decision by the Federal Government of Nigeria has caused outrage among the citizens of the country; those who are using Twitter as their source of income, technology wise, promotion of their businesses or brands and many more. Prior to this, The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari had earlier made tweets which were against the Twitter policy and the particular one that was offensive (war-related) got deleted by Twitter. We guessed this infuriated him to take this step or to reduce the spread of bad news (banditry, kidnappings, deaths, accidents, blunders from top Govt officials and many more) coming from the country on daily basis, to the outside world Before this announcement, there have been many cases of banditry, kidnappings, police brutalities, thuggery, extortions from government officials and that include the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) among many others. Coming in fresh today, is the latest from Malami (the Attorney General of the Nigerian Federation), as he added that any individual found with access to Twitter should be arrested and prosecuted. This decision has aroused Nigerians to question the loyalty of this government whether it's to the citizens or 'bandits' as we've witnessed them sparing the lives of bandits (repentant) on live TV and unrepentant ones are even left uncharged or brought to book up till this moment. Let's not forget, Nigerians adapt to new situations quickly, in this sense, people have bypassed this Twitter Ban by the use of VPN, which can make you hide or change your identity online. This latest innovation by Nigerians has even seen few of the government officials coming to Tweeter to tweet or pass information (notably the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde) and so many other news outlets. The "Buhari led administration" has been the worst so far in Nigerian history as it really seems the country call Nigeria has no president at present. We can say this because each action taken seems to be coming from one government official or the other. A president that can not grant a live interview... Is that a president or a Mannequin? Lest I forget, the Lekki Massacre which happened on October 20, 2020 at Lagos State, this is another tragedy added to Buhari-Led Administration, that was not even addressed by the president of the country. Same thing goes for the South Eastern states that Buhari has turned to battlefield between the Nigerian Military and the IPOB/ESN. Despite all these, he continued to threaten South East with Civil War which was why his posts were deleted on Twitter and Facebook in the first instance. Nowadays, the name "Buhari" remains a mystery in the country as it suggests too many bad words which include nepotism, bigotry, cow, bandits, death and many more we can't just finish mentioning. To summarize things, Twitter is not the problem of our dear country, Nigeria but bad government. Also, in attempt not to violate human right in modern society, Twitter is trying all efforts to assist concerned Nigerians to restore access to Twitter despite ban with hashtag #KeepItOn

Activism and Social Media
From Myspace to Facebook to Instagram, social networking services have become more comprehensive with every passing year. What started as an innocent past-time is now one of the biggest sources for news and community in America today. In the modern age, social media is a means of expression as well as an opportunity to interact and connect with other individuals with similar beliefs and interests. Its ability to reach so many has made social media an ideal platform to promote movements that seek social reform. Social media is a simple and effective way to unite like-minded people, spread information, dispel misinformation, and ultimately provoke significant social change.
