Prelude To Revolt
America, from sea to shining sea has always been a beacon of hope and salvation for troubling souls from every corner of the globe. For over one hundred years the United States stood for as the land of equal opportunity. Where anyone could aspire to achieve a better quality of life. For all those who are willing to work hard the steps of the upward mobility ladder were free to climb. A far cry from the reality of today. The steps of the upward mobility ladder are now almost impossible to find, cluttered under an avalanche of false hopes and insurmountable obstacles.

There is increased attention to young girls in DC that have gone missing. There have been 501 cases since the beginning of the year. The police say the number hasn't increased but, in fact, has decreased, but the force's increased use of social media is drawing attention to these cases.
Jeneba GhattPublished 7 years ago in The SwampExpanding The National Service
If you are a young American thinking about what to do next with your life after finishing high school or college, and you’re interested in serving greater causes than your own personal goals and pursuits, you should seriously consider becoming a volunteer. You may have your own preferences when it comes to serving but what matters is that you choose to do something to give back to those in your country and those around the world who are less fortunate than yourself. Your career goals, your family, and even your friends will understand if you choose to put things on hold for a few years, especially if you’re in your 20s still. You may like your volunteer service so much that you choose to make a career out of it too.
Is the US Constitution In Desperate Need of an Update?
Trump's win in his race for president of the United States is a victory that says volumes about American politics in general. For conservatives, it signaled the end of the ACA, an end to business regulations, and the end of politically correct speech.
Cato ConroyPublished 7 years ago in The SwampWell Ain't It Just What We Liberals Told ‘Em?
I’m sure that along with me you’ve been wondering why primarily white Southern and rural voters would ignore their own self-interest? I mean self-interest is what keeps us all alive. Most of us anyway want to live, no matter how wretched our lives are.
Felicity HarleyPublished 7 years ago in The SwampWhy We March
To all those Trump supports who keep insisting we are “sore losers” and should get over it. Well, let me tell you this. We are disheartened by the loss. We are in shock, disgust, horror yes but that is not the reason we are acting this way.

It's unlikely that President Trump is feeling the love from the Aloha state this morning. A federal judge in Hawaii ruled last night, mere hours before the Trump administration's latest travel ban was due to take effect, that the revised ban was, like its earlier counterpart, unconstitutional. Suman Raghunathan, executive director of South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT), noted the victory for Muslim travelers and said that the federal court order that was now blocking the ban sent a clear message to the current administration.

It is. Every day we leave the house, we need to be ready to defend ourselves, to stand up and speak out. And for people who don’t fit into the “middle class white abled bodied” woman narrative, those people march every day also. Those would be women who may be special needs, disabled, poor, at risk, and they don’t have the luxury of singling out one day to show their frustration with the system.
Jaden VioletPublished 7 years ago in The SwampSo You Want to Do Physical Removal
The alt-right and their bosom buddies, the Cantwellian Helicopter Libertarians, want to throw people out of helicopters like Pinochet's regime did to dissidents. Those that aren’t excited to commit mass murder in the name of 'liberty' or capitalism still favor a more sterilized, softer form of “physical removal” in the form of deportations or imprisonment.
Zach FosterPublished 7 years ago in The SwampHistory of Political Cartoons
Political cartoons have surged in popularity. With more people talking about politics, and with the nation so deeply divided, it becomes apparent that everyone wants validation for their political opinions. Nothing makes someone feel better than making fun of people we feel are morally backward.

I've always called myself a feminist, and I've always been proud of it. Having known so many strong women in my time, how could I not be a feminist?
