The Church that Built My Politics
Unitarian Universalist congregations affirm and promote seven principles that act as strong values and moral guides. The inherent worth and dignity of every person. Justice, equity, and compassion in human relations. Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth. A free and responsible search for truth and meaning. The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within congregations and in society at large. The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all. How the Sacklers directly changed my family, and our lives, forever. Three beautiful children, a loving family, and a thriving, nationwide family-owned business... This was the life prior to my husband being prescribed opiates. I didn’t know that he was instantly addicted. It was a gradual process, when beer at night turned into him secretly snorting them because they are that bad, adding hard liquor. They cause instant brain malfunction. After all, the Sakimers easily-accessible test pilots were their very own mental patients at the psychiatric hospital that they ran in Queens, NY.

Kedy SemarkPublished 5 years ago in The SwampOur National Debt
Like most of you, I was a bit confused and wanted elaboration on the subject of the National Debt. To me, this is one of the most important topics, regardless of who runs the country. So I started searching the web for explanation, but it seems that the articles online fall short of clarity. Most of these websites explain as if you are familiar with financial concepts. To add to the complexity, they reference other governmental websites that explain detail and components of the national debt.
Alonzo Echavarria-GarzaPublished 5 years ago in The SwampAuthority and the Truth
Truth is defined as a judgment or idea that is true or accepted as true. The two areas of knowledge examples I will be talking about are the history of immigration in the United States as well as the way women were subjugated in the name of mental illnesses during the 1800s-1900s, which falls under human science. Authority does not always tell the truth, yet people still believe their explanations and trust authoritative figures. This is explicitly shown by the history of immigration laws and the mistreatment of women within human science.
Selena VazquezPublished 5 years ago in The SwampPresident Trump vs The Squad of Four
BRYCE ON POLITICS - This round goes to the president. Click for AUDIO VERSION. The 2020 Presidential campaign kicked into high gear this week, not because of anything said by the Democrat candidates, such as VP Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders, et al, but because of an exchange between President Trump and "The Squad" of four far-left Democrats consisting of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) (AKA, "AOC"), Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-5), Rep. Ayanna Pressley (MA-7), and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (MI-13). These four Democrats have received notoriety based on their desire to push their party as far-left as possible. This has resulted in a fierce internal struggle among the Democrats, something that was inevitable, and long overdue.
Anti-Christian Is Not Anti-American
Being a history major with a philosophy minor, I have been meaning to spread my thoughts on both matters. This will be the first in what I am hoping to be a successful series.
Johann HollarPublished 5 years ago in The SwampBefore Queen Elizabeth, There Was Princess Elizabeth
She was stern, she was smart and cunning, she cared for her people among all else, she refused to be tricked or used, and she was The Virgin Queen. Queen Elizabeth 1 did not pop out of the ground one day with all of her knowledge, characteristics, and political savvy that made her great, she was born and through her childhood and young adult life she learned these things and her character was molded, helping her in her reign. Not much is said on Elizabeth’s childhood and young adult life before she took the throne, so maybe a deeper look at Elizabeth’s younger years will help explain her older ones just a bit more.
Catherine AgatiPublished 5 years ago in The SwampHidden Homeless, Hidden Stories
I live in Ireland, a country whose politicians proudly proclaim has one of the fastest growing economies and citizens now have more money in their pockets yet it is a country where the word 'housing' is invariably followed by the word 'crisis'. You see, the growth and improvement for businesses and our government does not measure how all the people on this island are managing and certainly not the many on the streets or on the brink, those of us living in and dying from poverty. There are over ten thousand people accessing emergency homeless services yet our housing minister does not count those sleeping rough on the streets who learned the hard way that emergency accommodation is worse than curling up in any doorway they can sleep safely in and those of us without a home of our own. I'm homeless but I don't turn up on the minister's reports because I am one of the thousands that are hidden homeless, people who cannot afford and our own place and who have been overlooked and failed by a system that casts us aside in the non priority trash can.
