You're Not Breathing Right

“Worrying is carrying tomorrow's load with today's strength- carrying two days at once. It is moving into tomorrow ahead of time. Worrying doesn't empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.”

― Corrie ten Boom

"Just relax." Thanks. Has that ever worked? Someone says that and then suddenly everything is peachy?

I'm afraid it's not that easy. Anxiety is a hell like no other. The constant worry and fear eat at you mentally and physically. At times it can feel like there is no hope.

You know it doesn't have to be like that, right? There are ways to overcome your oppressing thoughts and move on to a better, brighter day.

It might take a while and there might be a few setbacks but it is not impossible. You just need to be strong and resilient in fighting for your happiness and peace of mind.

1) Take DEEP breaths.

I try to breathe in for at least four seconds, hold for two, and release for four as well. I know it can be hard when you are in the throughs of panic but do your best. No one can ask for more.

2) Count to ten.

Count slowly and focus as much as you can on the numbers. Forget everything around you.

3) Try meditation.

This was a big help to me. Find a place where you can be by yourself, play some music, and just breathe in and out. P.S. When I say play music, play whatever you want. If you relax better with Metallica than Beethoven that's your own business.

4) It's okay to fall apart.

Someone told me that crying was a way for your soul to clean itself and heal. If you need to cry there is no shame. Whether you are a man or a woman, young or old, it does not matter. Find a friend or just squeeze the hell out of a pillow. Whatever it takes and whatever you need. Just forget about everyone else.

5) You're going to be okay.

It may take a while to get on your feet and to be able to stand where you want. That's okay. Move at your own pace just don't stop moving.

I am right where you are. Making my way along in this life as best as I can. You are not alone and neither am I. We are going to do this together. It is not a bad thing to need help, everyone needs someone.

6) Last but no way least: Smile

The most beautiful curve on anyone's body is their smile, and it's the way you should always start your day.

The most beautiful curve on anyone's body is their smile, and it's the way you should always start your day.

Anxiety is hell. But you don't have to keep it for the rest of your life. Through it away and pick up something else. Obsess over cat videos and Supernatural instead of imaginary fears. I know it will be hard but we can do this together.

7) Bonus

You're beautiful. Always remember that.
