What Holds Back Subliminal Results? Part 1

Some factors that can slow down change

By moon vixenPublished 4 years ago 4 min read

If you've been on my channel for a while, you'll probably remember the food and drink theme. I built it around a concept of comparing subliminals to edible things, with affirmations equivalent to energy and nutrients absorbed from foods and drinks. But just as some people may not receive the effects they expect from what they physically consume, subliminal listeners often find that they are not receiving desired results. The absence or temporary nature of results is not due to a single factor, but rather varies from person to person. Here, I will be discussing reasons I have deduced for lack of results, based on observations, feedback, and my own experience.

1. Listening Time and Activities

It's a well known fact that listening too little is ineffective. Even if a listener feels tingles on the first try, listening more is necessary to properly ingrain the affirmations and induce permanent change. Think about the analogy of someone with poor eating habits who decides to switch to healthy choices. One day will not make a significant difference, but over time, their health will improve, step by step.

However, focusing too much on listening as much as possible, in addition to being too strict with what you do while listening, may actually slow down change, even if the intent is to increase results. I have received questions from listeners asking about activities during listening, such as browsing social media or studying. I have also received questions about the necessary frequency of visualization. There are even very dedicated listeners who asked about photoshopping themselves with results and looking at the images, which did not induce results, despite tingles.

My conclusion about such inquiries is that you can refrain from any activity that you feel may diminish your results and engage in activity that you believe will improve your results, but doing either of these to the point where you feel personally restricted is not beneficial. The reason is that the listener can easily enter a mindset similar to those who constantly check for results, which slows down change because the mind consciously detects the absence of change, opposing the effect of affirmations. Most activities that listeners are concerned may slow down change are actually completely harmless things like reading or playing games. Activities that should not be paired with listening are high focus ones such as driving. Noisy environments may also affect results due to affecting affirmation absorption.

From my personal experience and analysis of testimonials and feedback, I have concluded that many people may benefit from listening just whenever it fits into their schedule, in a comfortable, detached mindset. Visualization with images can help achieve desired results, and more listening time will embed affirmations more overall, but if you do anything to speed up results, make sure to stay inside your comfort zone!

2. Reading Comments by Other Listeners

Seeing others' result testimonials and updates is an uplifting experience, but it is important to keep in mind that not everyone is in the same starting condition, and not everyone's mind responds to the same subliminal in the same way. Just because someone else had significant results in a specific number of listens, it does not mean you will as well. You may have faster results. You may have slower results. If you do not get results in the same number of listens as someone else, do not be discouraged or impatient. Developing bias before listening can slow down results if your expectations are not met. Your conscious knowledge that the results you expected are not there will contradict the affirmations inducing change. This situation is very similar to constantly checking for results.

Different makers' videos work for different listeners. People get results to different extents at different speeds. Testimonials are great to see, but make sure to focus on your own subliminal experience and be free of expectations and bias based on others' comments!

3. Personality Influence

Most of us have heard of clashing, or opposing affirmations. In these situations, it is harder for listeners to achieve results because they are embedding contradictory affirmations. Clashing between affirmations is a well known phenomenon, unlike clashing between affirmation wording and listener personality. What I mean specifically is the influence of different mindsets in regards to sentences with the word "you," which is heavily used in affirmations. Affirmations are like commands inducing change. "You have this." "You have that." "You are this." "You are that."

Think about how you normally react to someone addressing you in the second person. If they are asking for a favor or telling you to do something, you may find it unpleasant if you are a rebellious individual. But if you are someone who goes with the flow, you would be more likely to oblige without negative feelings. A rule breaker would dislike being told what to do and be subtly biased against any sentences directed at them in the second person. In contrast, someone who is more obedient in comparison would react less negatively.

Placing the contrast into context, someone who is generally more obedient would likely receive faster results than someone who is more of a maverick. Regardless of what category you fall into, you can always improve your experience by consciously reaffirming your acceptance of commanding sentences in relation to what you wish to change. By asserting that you allow for these affirmations to alter yourself, you can overcome any subtle bias that may have slowed down your results!
