An Open Letter To Anyone With Anxiety.

I hear you. I have anxiety myself. It's not fun at all. In fact sometimes it's crippling. Constantly worrying if you're good enough or if you did something wrong. Never feeling at peace mentally. Never feeling like you can relax. I understand that completley. You have people who tell you to just calm down or to get over it. You start to feel bad for having anxiety even though it's not your fault. They'll tell you that it could be worse which makes you more anxious. (Side note never tell someone with Anxiety this)

Peopele that tell you this crap don't deserve to be in your life. You deserve to have people in your life that support you and love you through your worst moments. You don't deserve to have people who discount your anxiety and emotions. You deserve to have a support system around you. There is such a negative stigma around Mental Illness and we can stop it by having more positive attitudes towards it and actually helping those around us.

People might tell you that you worry to much and that everything will be okay. This isn't helpful either. They don't deserve to be in your life either. Their basically making it sound like you chose to have anxiety. And we all know you didn't. You were born with it. Don't surround yourself with people who make it seem like it's your fault.

It's lonely isn't it? You feel like nobody gets it. You feel like you're all alone in the struggle. You feel like you constantly to mask everything in order to seem normal to society. At what point is what i'm doing enough? Is a question you ask yourself huh. How thin do I have to stretch myself in order to make YOU think I'm a hardworker. What they don't see is that your constantly over thinking and have an inabilty to slow down because you feel like you constantly have to be doing something. You feel like you'll be disappointing someone in the world if you rest.

Truth is that if anyone gets disapointed at you taking a moment to yourself they don't deserve your time. Have you ever heard that song This is me trying by Taylor Swift. (Side note I'm a huge Taylor Swift Fan) Listen to that song. it talks about mental health and how fucking hard it is to try and actively fight everyday to at least act ok. And it is hard huh? Sure you have medication and therapy but at the end of the day you have to do the bulk of the work yourself. Every.Damn.Day.

All we need is someone to understand and be there for us. We get enough shit everyday from society. What we need is love and support and understanding. We aren't broken but between the stigma surrounding mental health and all the pressure from society it's tough. See when we get out into the real world there isn't any list of requirements waiting for us like there would be in school. There aren't any rules or deadlines. We have to figure it out for ourselves. Which makes us even more anxious because we constantly worry that we're not doing the "correct" thing or doing things in the "correct order" It's a fucking struggle.

So to anyone with Anxiety I get it. I get it 100%. I also get that you may have anxiety about different things and that we experience it differently. But when we break it down to the core. I get it. I really do.
