Raina SonesPublished 3 years ago in PsycheThe Blissful Ignorance
Your mind goes first, to the what is, to the what could be. Just a taste to stray will always bring back the what was. The more you take in, the more your consumed within yourself. As you go deeper you find the what could have been. Here is where you first find it. Ignorance, you start to lose yourself the further into it you journey. At this point you start to forget about the haves. Finding yourself blinded by those little blissful wants.
Caleb EdmondsPublished 3 years ago in PsycheMeeting Anxiety
The year was 2002. I was 11 years old at the time when anxiety first reared it's ugly head. West Nile virus was flooding the news. My parents always watched the news. Little did they know, I was being filled with pure fear and panic. Fast forward, and you will find me at my Aunt's house frantically running from one family member to another asking them to feel my pulse and check me for fever. In my mind, I had contracted West Nile Virus. In my mind, I was surely going to die. My parents took me to counseling. I don't recall ever being officially diagnosed either. I would not be diagnosed until around 24 years old.

“Alaska’s glaciers are melting at a rapid pace,” Jane Augustin declared as she continued to explore her own thoughts at the head of the auditorium. I could see in her facial expressions that she had something on her mind. She gave no indication on what it was that she was contemplating but her speech did not have the same finesse as usual. Jane is my idol and the sole reason I became a scientist studying Alaska’s land, so I was honored to be invited to her seminar. I myself was only just hired by Harvard University months prior as a research analyst studying global warming focusing on Alaska and just starting my career. Harvard scientists believed that the key to the global climate crisis could be solved somewhere in the depths of Alaska’s glaciers.

Mozell MaassPublished 3 years ago in PsycheSponsorship
Most people look for a sponsor to support their efforts in fundraising for their business, for helping them to be a success as an athlete, to help to promote them or their goals. My experience with sponsorship came when I first went to a family group to get support for my family trouble. I enjoyed having a sponsor right away and I have had several since 1978 when I first started in that recovery program. I am now a woman in long term recovery and what that means is I have had no alcohol or drugs for 41 years and I have been in that family program for 43 years. I have sponsored many in both programs. Never as well as I have been sponsored and never have they received as much as I have by sponsoring them!! Much of the programs I have attended are anonymous and so I thought I might show the anonymity in the picture above. Now days masks do the same thing.
Denise E LindquistPublished 3 years ago in PsycheHow Do You Know It’s Time To Change Your Psychotherapist For Better Outcomes?
I am not criticizing talk therapy or therapists.I know some great therapists and have enormous respect for them. My sole intention is to spread awareness from my life experience so as to help a few people who are already into therapy or considering going for it in the near future. My therapist was a woman, so I have used ‘her’, everywhere.

Rene PetersPublished 3 years ago in PsycheMy Favorite Color Is...
“My favorite color is red. There is nothing else to it. There is just something about it that just makes me so excited. Blue may be “normal,” the typical favorite for a boy like myself, and then there are the unconventional ones like purple or green. I’m not saying they aren’t pretty, not valid, not a better choice than pink, but red is my favorite color and that’s all there is to it.
Steph RuffPublished 3 years ago in PsycheThe 3-Month Sleep Experiment (2021)
I began this experiment after a few key things this year: dreams while visiting relatives, beginning a new journal, and family drama driving me to concede that I should (finally) look into therapy. I’ve long had sleep issues, as described in “Night Walker”, and I have used cannabis to aid these sleep issues for about 7 years now, as mentioned in “A Dreamless Sleep”. This “experiment” is still being conducted, but I wanted to share my findings after the first month.
