A person can never be too careful around strangers. There are some people that prey on others. A sociopath is a person that manifests a lack of conscience by ignoring the feelings of others and showing a disregard for what is right and what is wrong. They do not feel guilt or remorse for their actions. There are some characteristics to look for to determine if you have come in contact with a sociopath.
A sociopath can be very charming. They can turn on the charm and flattery as needed to win someone over. At times, they may seem a little too charming. If someone in your life knows the exact moment to turn on the charm or they seem a little too full of compliments, they may be a sociopath that is trying to win you over.
A sociopath will lie about everything, even minor details. They will lie about things that they do not need to lie about. While most people will tell a little lie from time to time, a sociopath will lie constantly. Even if they get caught in a lie, they will try to get out of it with another series of lies. This can be a sign that they have a disregard for their actions and how their actions affect others.
Sense of Entitlement
Sociopaths are often intelligent and they think that they are superior to everyone else. The sociopath will think that they are the smartest person in the room and that they will be able to fool anyone. They also feel that they are entitled to things in life, that they should not have to work hard for what they want but instead, they should be given everything. They often feel that they are better than everyone else and that others are well beneath them.
If you feel that you have come in contact with a sociopath it is important that you set boundaries with them. You should install a doorbell camera. This way you can see if they are coming to your home without being invited. You should unfriend them on social media and slowly pull away. Begin to ignore their phone calls and do not engage in social interactions. You can slowly start to distance them from your life.
You need to look at why you may want to confront this person and what function it will have in your life. They are not able to show empathy or care about how their actions affect others. They will not feel mad if they have treated you harshly. Confronting them may lead to bigger issues and you will not get the apology you need to be able to heal.
If you feel that someone in your life is a sociopath, you should seek advice and guidance from a therapist on how to gradually yet effectively remove them from your life. They can also support you in this process, especially if the sociopath is a loved one. If you feel threatened in any manner you need to contact law enforcement. Sociopaths are often impulsive, and they do not regret their actions, even cruel ones.
If you feel that you have a sociopath in your life, it is best to estrange yourself from them. The sociopath does not experience emotions like most humans and they can bring harm to your life. Sociopaths are often charming and appear to look just like everyone else. You should be aware of the lies and manipulations before you become deeply involved with a sociopath.
