The importance of savouring your mental health during Quarantine.

As it is Mental Health Awareness week I thought I’d take this time to exaggerate the importance of savouring your mental health in theses difficult challenging times from a first hand sufferer.

For many years I have battled with depression and anxiety and so I know that in these unprecedented times it may be difficult for some to keep the balance of calm and overwhelming thoughts. There is so much pressure from social media and other sources forcing us to stay motivated, driven and to excel in these times. Though it is important to keep your brain active and resort to some kind of normal in these not so normal circumstances , it is important to remain true to yourself. Do as much as YOU can do. Not what others think you are capable of. The struggle each and everyone of us face on a day to day basis is different from the other. We show fear differently as we show strength differently. One may start a business and call it progress. Another may get out of bed and stay out and call it progress. To me, both are progress. Some may not see it that way but the strength it may take one to launch a business or the strength it may take another to stay out of bed for the whole day is extreme to THEM.

We all adapt differently. We all experience different levels of anxiety and some even depression. But we all deal with that differently. So if your lazy day is lasting longer than a day, that is okay. If your motivation just doesn’t seem to be showing up; that too is okay. Everyone gets in a ‘low stage ‘ of life. Some may last longer than others but just remember. Everything and every time in your life has a season. A season to grow. A season to change. A season to reflect.

Remember being in school ? At that specific moment of life we thought that is where we will always be. Seeing past it seemed damned near impossible, but look now. I don’t know about you but I’ve been out of school for nearly double the amount of time I was there in the first place (wow I feel old) I say this to say, everything has a season and this too will be just that. We never opted to be apart of a future history lesson but like most unforeseen circumstances in life we never got the choice, but we will survive in the best way we know how and that is unique to ALL OF US.

So weather you are SURVIVING or THRIVING stay alive for me Hun. The best is yet to come
