Celebrity worship syndrome (CWS) is an obsessive addictive disorder in which a person becomes overly involved with the details of a celebrity's personal and professional life.

Let's dive deeper

Celebrity worship is a real thing that has been happening for decades and generations. Whether its a pop singer, hip-hop artist, actor/actress, sports athlete or comedian, the word 'famous' or 'celebrity' is always linked to these people. Theres a connection thats sometimes overboard between celebrity and fan. And the gap thats between those two types of human couldn't be wider.

Lets look at this syndrome from a pyschological perspective:

In a study that involved more than 600 people, psychologists found that about a third qualified for a condition they coined "celebrity worship syndrome" a condition wherein, at its most severe, the focus of our idolization becomes the central figure in our lives.

There's an increasing number of us for whom the fascination with celebrities is a substitution for real life, with the focus on a celebrity replacing the focus that should be on our own lives.

Mental problems such as depression, anxiety and a decrease of self-esteem are just some of the documented psychological conditions that can result when we put all of our energy in the life of a celebrity. It's safe to say these people have been stealing our energy but it's only because we allowed that outcome.

I bring up the word 'idolatry' because it's the perfect definition to describe a celebrity worshipper with extreme admiration, love or reverence for something or someone else.

If you happen to read this story and you are suffering from Celebrity Worship Syndrome, you need to come back to reality of life that these idols you have gave so much of your energy to is an external substitute for a missing internal void.

By you idolizing a famous person, you allow every aspect of their life, whether it be positive or negative to feed off from your own life and what you got going on. They bring no value to your life, admit it.

Here's an example, during the 2009 grammys when Taylor Swift accepted her grammy and would do her little speech but Kanye infamously interrupted her causing a huge backlash and eruption from her fans and the world blowing up on Ye for his lack of respect.

The point I'm trying to make is this incident happen to Taylor and Taylor only, only she could truly feel disrespected in that moment, but its unnecessary for the entire world to let it effect their life.

It's not like somebody interrupted you're victory speech after all. the thing when it comes to worshipping celebrities is when something happens to them, you automatically feel bad and let it ruin your day and act as if the situation actually happened to you when in reality, nothing really made you tick, it's the psychological effect of the syndrome that has made you an overacting empath towards the celebrity when in actuality they are living 10x better than you.

How doe's your life benefit from worshipping celebrities?

You need to ask yourself that question from an honest perspective, by you wasting time, money, and energy on Lady Gaga's life, you could waste that on your life purpose and small goals you would like to attain.

Instead of keeping up with 'The Kardashians', instead keep up with your life. When you get sick and have to go to the hospital, is Kevin Hart going to fly in his jet and come see at the hospital and tell you a funny yet politically incorrect joke that's going to make you feel better? No.

When you are feeling the weight of depression bury you underneath and you are struggling to make it through another day, is Dwayne Johnson going to give you words of encouragement to better help your situation? No.

So many of these of important figures of hollywood are not equipped to be your role model or any positive influencer to you're life.

Just like us, they have skeletons in the closet too, the difference is, people we know will be quick to shame us for our wrongdoings.

But with them, they do something horrific, the whole world will not hesitant to come running to their defense and make them look like the innocent ones.

The truth is you don't wanna be like Michael Jackson, you don't want to be like Beyonce or Jay-Z.

You need to be YOU cause its better to hated for someone you truly are than to be loved for someone that you're not. Trust me, your respect and admiration from you're circle will come in due time.

You can't wait for nobody to save you from yourself, thats your job unfortunately but that's the fight we must go through in order to save us from ourselves.

And the soon we realize this, the better our life will be because we don't need a role model.

In order to overcome this syndrome, you must know that these celebrities are living better than you and they will never have you're best interest.

They're millions of homeless people around the world and poor people living in third world countries while these famous people are on MTV Cribs showing out and taunting you with their custom made cars and their priviledged living and their nice hot tubs while you struggle to make ends meat working a dreaded 9-5, sometimes 2 jobs just to keep a roof on top of your head.

Instead of buying these artists music, make your own music, instead of watching basketball everyday, play basketball and become great at it.

Heck, you can be your own celebrity figure if you put in the work and put you first instead of Brittney Spears and recognize you're own self-worth.

You have the ability to do and to be where these celebrites are at, you can strive to get at their level, it all starts with you and the power of your faith in self. Idolize no one.
