Wine Review: Beringer White Zinfandel
In a previous Vocal post, I talked about a new red wine I tried from the brand OP. I talked about how my wine drinking days began with drinking Rosés. I personally enjoy sweeter wines to dryer wines, so Rosés were always my go to when it came to wine. It works out perfectly when your friends and family enjoy different wines than you because it means you can enjoy something to yourself and if you enjoy the same wines you can share when you find something new. After writing the last review of the Sweet Red Wine from OP, it got me thinking about whether or not I even still liked Rosé at all. White Zinfandel and Pink Moscato were my go to wines when I turned of age. I wasn't quite ready for the dark color and rich flavors that came with red wine and the white wines I tried were either too dry for my taste or borderline acoustic to my taste buds, they were that sweet. Rosés by nature are the middle ground of wine in that there used to only be red and white wine and pink wines were made by mixing the two together.

I would like to start off by saying that I am, by no means, a wine connoisseur. However, I can appreciate a good bottle of wine or a mixed drink every now and again. Due to the roaring 20s reemerging due to COVID-19, bars shut down for a time, taking stay at home orders seriously. I don't usually consume wine at bars so this new order gave me the opportunity to try new wines at home. Other than the occasional sip of champagne during the New Years or Christmas Eve celebrations, alcohol in any form wasn't a big part of my life. We had bottles of wine at home but it had to be an occasion for my mother to open them. In the state of Texas TABC allows underage drinking so long as the child's guardian or parent is present and approves. I just wanted to clarify that; my mother and father were not big drinkers but if there was a cause to celebrate and we were old enough, they allowed us to have a glass with them. The summer of 2012 was the first time I got to try wine outside of my parents home. I was 18, spending 10 days touring France, traveling from Nice to Paris.

While wine does have a surprising number of health benefits, it can negatively impact your waistline. If you feel guilty opening your favorite bottle of wine or accepting a glass of wine at a party, you shouldn’t.

This has been a year where wine is a must have so I would like to share three of my favorite wines that can be purchased at your local wine stores or ordered online. First let's start with what type of wines I enjoy. I love a full bodied wine that is sweet and smooth. I am also a fan of sparkling wines once again if it is sweet to the taste. So the first wine on my list for 2020 favorites is the Caposaldo sparkling peach, this wine is produced in Italy where the grapes used are grown on the cool hilltops of northern Italy’s Lombardy region. You can drink this for a special occasion of any kind and would pair perfectly at bridle showers, weddings, birthday parties and dessert tastings. It is super versatile in a celebratory setting and its priced very well under $15.00 USD a bottle. I love the pop cork that does not require a wine cork opener and the exciting pop you get as you lightly twist the cork. I'm quite sure if you shake it up you will get a surprise burst of wine from the bottle so be careful or shake up and celebrate. I really loved how the peach flavor is strong and the aroma lingers on the cork. With this wine you are sure to be pleased and it is packaged in a lovely clear bottle showing off it bold peach color with decorative peach colors and shimmering golds. This is a great gift wine or again perfect for celebrations.

When the new kosher Israeli grocery store opened, I was in heaven. Before, there had been plenty of kosher food that was available at different places, but nothing out of the ordinary. This store was gourmet.

There is a fairly strong divide between beverage professionals and those who work in the service industry. Is it okay to drink on the job? Some people and companies are staunchly against it, while some bartenders will down a shot every now and then when they’re “in the weeds”. That being said, everyone usually comes together to tip back a few drinks together after closing. If you’ve had a good night, maybe just a glass of wine after your shift. If it’s been a bad night, you might choose something stronger. For me? I would always go to the bar next door, sit at the bar, and order a glass of blanc de blancs champagne (we should note this establishment added this to their glass pours solely because I came in at least five evenings a week to imbibe and wind down).

The Perfect Two: Chocolate Covered Cherries and Red Wine
Chocolate covered cherries and red wine are the perfect pairing. This is a spin on the classic chocoate covered strawberries. We all know that strawberries are an aphrodisiac, so it's a pairing that I offten have with wine. Chocolate covered strawberries are a staple for Valentines's day as a gift of love an admiration, It's romantic! Is chocolate also an aphrodisiac ? no. But is is so tasty you can cover almost anything in chocolate and make it twice as delicious. No wonder we have fountains dedicated to chocolate, and again it's a romantic sweet treat that we can enjoy to sweeten our world. We can all use more romance in our lives after-all.

Pairing Wines to my Top Songs on Spotify Wrapped 2020.
If 2020 did one thing right, it was give us all more time to appreciate a lot of the things we often took for granted before. For me, the two main things I most definitely took for granted would have to be Spotify and fine dining.

A Brave New World The Odyssey is one of the longest standing epic poems, which is deep-rooted into Greek literature. The tale tells of a man, Odysseus, who battles his way home after enduring one decade of the Trojan war. I often note that Odysseus was depicted to be incredibly strong, but his greatest strength was found in his cunning and wits. Those brilliant attributes are some of many carried by his author, Homer. As one of the greatest epic poets in the world, Homer ultimately echoed many of the Greek values that the aristocrats wanted to reflect. He pridefully wrote about the nobility of greek heroics, but above any of his most commended accomplishments, he perfectly paired the battles of life with the finest sophistication.
