Facts About Alcohol You Didn't Know
Many people feel they have a good grasp on the various elements of alcohol after just buying one drink, as if that somehow makes you know every aspect of the drinking world. However, while many know that alcohol makes you drunk, most people seem to know only that.

I wrote an article awhile back on weird American drinking laws, and, while there are more than enough to fill a second list, it's time to look across the pond at Europe. Europe has a long, storied history, which stretches back to the era of Imperial Rome to Imperial Britain. A lot of Imperialism, it appears.

It sometimes feels, after you've mixed a few drinks, that no one is creative anymore when asking for special cocktails. White Russian. Manhattan. Screw-driver. Long island ice tea. Every recipe is the same. Every one of them, snatched up from the same reprinted volume of classic drinks. Everyone knows what they are, so is there any point really getting creative when everyone drinks the same thing?
Miranda O'ConnerPublished 7 years ago in ProofHacking Cheap Liquor
Nobody wants to drink from the bargain bin. Cheap liquor leaves a bad taste, ruins mixed drinks, and is a quick way to dampen the good vibes at a party. So, what if there was a way to turn that value-brand booze into something fit for royalty? Sound too good to be true? Behold, the magic of refiltering...
Brent SmithPublished 7 years ago in ProofWeird Drinking Laws in America
Alcohol has had an odd history in the court of law. During Prohibition, alcohol became illegal, which, it turned out, did little to stop people from drinking. Shocking. As the drinking age creeps higher and higher with the passing years, many people feel constricted when it comes to alcohol laws. Paul BarkerPublished 7 years ago in ProofCraft Beer Trends That Need to End
Craft brewing has been a booming business for the last few decades or so. Of course, with the rise of these small breweries comes the rise of silly gimmicks. Most of these trends stem from marketing magic, trying to trick you into buying things you don’t really want, while some are just baffling craft beer trends that need to end. I’m proposing we collectively agree to let these fads slip silently to the wayside. Let’s keep the focus on what makes craft beers great and what sets them apart, not a bunch of ridiculous barroom trends. Some are annoying, some are pompous, and some are just plain weird. Beard beer anyone?

Pull up your barstool if you’ve ever been stumped by that age-old question: is the girl or guy tending the bar actually flirting with me, or simply trying to lock in a good tip? Maybe she is just being nice and polite. Maybe those looks he’s giving me aren’t suggestive and I’m totally imagining things. Maybe I should stop smiling so much before I get caught by my wife/partner/best friend who I secretly quite like but haven’t found the perfect moment to say so yet. We feel your pain. And the good news for all those who joined us at the bar is we are here to help. Take a few hearty gulps of our free advice and you’ll soon know for sure if your bartender is actually into you.

The art of drinking is undoubtedly a tricky one.
