Craziest Shots You Need to Try

Shots are crazy by default, but some are definitely crazier than others.

Few things served in a shotglass are ever called "tame." In the eyes of bartenders, hearing a party calling for a round of shots signals the beginning of a wild night. Among lightweights, shots are something that almost always end with a round of worshipping a porcelain god.

And then, there are the people who live for shot drinks.

Though few and far between, shot connoisseurs do exist. More often than not, they have one simple goal in mind: to find the best shots, or at least to discover the shots that are daring in way or another.

Speaking as a shot connoisseur, these shot-sized cocktails are bound to help you unleash your inner party animal. Or, at the very least, they'll help you learn a new appreciation for the clubland staple.

The Blowjob

This shot is a classic bar staple, primarily because guys always like to order them with a coy smile towards a cute bartender, and because girls tend to like showing off their skills at drinking this creamy concoction.

The shot itself is relatively simple to make:

  • 1/2 ounce Kahlua
  • 1/2 ounce Bailey's Irish Creme
  • Whipped cream topping

Easy as it is to make, you might be wondering why this made the list. It's not the cocktail itself that is wild. It's the traditional way you drink it. According to bar culture, this drink has to be taken all in one shot without using your hands.

In other words, you have to wrap your lips around the top of the glass, and take it all in one single gulp. Do you have what it takes to actually drink a Blowjob the traditional way?

The Prairie Fire

I'll begin this entry by saying that the Prairie Fire shot lives up to its name in terms of flavor. It burns. And, it will make you thirstier than a tumbleweed rolling across a prairie in July.

This shot is brutal, and surprisingly simple to make in its most basic form:

  • 1 ounce tequila
  • 1 dash Tabasco sauce

Some people who are total gluttons for pain will go so far as to upgrade their shots with stronger forms of hot sauce made from ghost peppers or habaneros. Drink at your own risk!

The Four Horsemen

This shot cocktail can be done one of two ways, but regardless of the method you choose to ingest it, it will most likely result in at least one bad decision. As the name suggests, this shot recipe involves four very strong liquors.

The most common way to try the Four Horsemen is in a single shotglass featuring the following ingredients:

  • 1/4 ounce Jack Daniels
  • 1/4 ounce Jim Beam
  • 1/4 ounce Jameson
  • 1/4 ounce Johnnie Walker

If that isn't hardcore enough for you, then the alternative way is a surefire route to a drunken stupor. This route involves the drinker downing a shot of each of the "Horsemen" in quick succession.

Naga Chili Vodka

Thanks to the demented minds of chili-heads, there is such a thing as chili pepper-infused vodka. The spiciest brand of vodka involves Naga Viper chilis in its recipe. Chili aficionados will tell you that, at one point, the Naga Viper chili was briefly ranked as the spiciest chili in the world.

You don't need to mix this shot. All you need to do is pour it from the bottle, which, by the way, has the following advice printed on it: "Are you insane? This bottle is full of pain."

The Nikolaschka

This is a Russian cocktail that *technically* is a shot. Well, technically, it's a double shot dessert drink. But, it's regularly ranked as one of the most alcoholic beverages you can order. Needless to say, most people can handle only two of these before they're totally plastered.

Making it is a bit more involved than a typical shot. Here are its ingredients:

  • 2 shots of vodka
  • Lemon
  • Espresso powder
  • Sugar

In order to fully experience the wrath that is the Nicolashka dessert drink, you also need to consume them in a certain order:

  1. Put the espresso powder, sugar, and lemon in your mouth.
  2. Drink a single shot of vodka, while keeping the coffee, lemon, and sugar in your mouth.
  3. Chew up the food, then swallow it.
  4. Finish off with a second shot.

Heavy drinkers often say that this shot somehow feels stronger than a typical double shot. It seems like the caffeine might actually make it easier to absorb the alcohol, but it could be just hearsay. What do you think?

The Mach 5

If your goal for the night is to get as drunk as humanly possible, and that's your definition of crazy, then the Mach 5 is your best bet. Unlike others on this list, this shot is not served in a shot glass. Rather, it's served in a 12 ounce glass, and is taken all in one gulp.

Here's how to make it:

  • 3/4 ounce Goldschlager
  • 3/4 ounce Wild Turkey
  • 3/4 ounce Rumplemintz
  • 3/4 ounce Southern Comfort
  • 3/4 ounce Bacardi 151

Combine all those, and drink it in one go. Chances are, it'll be the only shot you can handle for the night.
