While women in Ghana are being slaughtered by Ghanian heterosexual men, no one in the countries leadership is opening their mouths to declare that the murders are wrong. Leaders like the Ghanian chiefs have met several times over their non-existant LGTBQ problem.

In Ghana where homosexuality as always been illegal, there useless government has spent the years hashing over yet another, more brutal bill to further criminalize gays in the country.

Ghana which has dropped from the most peaceful country in Africa, all the way to the 4th position. Where there has been election violence in way of fists fighting as recently as yesterday. Gays are the top priority, not the horrible economy, high food prices and cost of living.

Women and girls have been the victims of more recent rapes, murders and pedophilia. Even in the United States, Ghanians are murdering their wives. Just recently in Berks County, Pennsylvania a Ghanian man was arrested with the dead body of a woman in his apartment.

Another Ghanian shot his wife, killing himself. another arrested in an armed robbery case. This is all within the last two months.

African sexuality and the legacy of imported homophobia

In June, Botswana overturned colonial-era laws which criminalized homosexuality, with the judge, Michael Leburu, declaring that “the anti-sodomy laws are a British import” and were developed “without the consultation of local peoples”.

It was viewed as a massive success and a historic moment across the continent. Despite this the more than half of the countries in Africa outlaw homosexuality, with four enforcing the death penalty. At a time where we see more and more countries worldwide becoming progressive with regard to LGBT rights, why does Africa still maintain their anti-LGBT stance? Is homosexuality, rather than homophobia a “western import” as claimed by Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni?

Of course not. There is a direct correlation between countries which belong to the Commonwealth, and therefore have previously been under British rule, and countries that still have homophobic biphobic and/or transphobic legislature in their constitutions. 25 per cent of the world’s population (2.4 billion people) currently live in a country belonging to the Commonwealth, however they make up a disproportionately large 50 per cent of countries that still criminalise homosexuality.

But this phenomenon is specific to those under British rule. By the 13th century in France, punishments for male homosexuality include castration for the first offence. But the French repealed their anti-sodomy laws after the first French Revolution in 1750, two centuries prior to the British in 1967. This is then echoed in La Francophonie nations; out of 54 member states, only 33 per cent of these criminalise homosexuality, in comparison to 66 per cent of Commonwealth nations.

Homosexuality is not un-African

During a prime time interview with BBC’s “Hard Talk” show in March 2012, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni noted, “Homosexuals in small numbers have always existed in our part of black Africa …They were never prosecuted. They were never discriminated.”

Earlier this year, confronted by internal and external pressure, Museveni reversed himself and signed the Anti-Homosexuality Bill in the full glare of the media — declaring that homosexuality was Western-imposed. Before signing the law, Museveni asked a team of top-notch Ugandan scientists to help him make an educated decision. The panel’s report did not mince words: “In every society, there is a small number of people with homosexual tendencies.”

Here is where the xenophobia comes in the African countries I've lived in, there seems to be so much hatred for westerners, western governments. People don't even care to differentiate between the citizens and governments.

Here is an example of some of the hate America gets, from a news story in Kenya about the protests and rioting. Seven people have died after being killed by Kenyan police during protests in the country. The United Nations wants to investigate here is a title of a story posted from Nations Africa News in Kenya.

The protests and its aftermath Friday drew the attention of the United Nations, which called for “prompt, thorough, independent and transparent investigations into the deaths and injuries.”

Several Kenyans took to the comments section on Facebook where this article link was shared by Nations Africa.

The number is very small for United States to start yapping. Let them hold Raila personally responsible for the deaths

Jèff Òsàñò

now the americans are happy we don't need your help we kenyans can solve our problems

There were several comments about Americans and the United States, the United Nations which this article is speaking of isn't the America.

Kenya is a member country of the United Nations, which signed human rights agreements which all other members have also signed as well. The United Nations, which does happen to ignore the human rights violations of the American citizens, like Black Americans.

The United Nations monitors humans rights all over the world. It's not the same body as the United States.

In another article posted in Ghana about the murder of a young man, which was in Ghana, had nothing what so ever to do with the United States. It drew several hateful comments about America and Americans.

Then a video of the young man's school and someone in Twi, reporting the story of how this man was killed. Below the video there are several hundred comments. Over 360 comments to be exact over 360 at the time of writing this.

This above man expressed that none of his children will grow up in this wicked society. We are here making useless laws and fighting against things that have nothing to do with our aimless country.

Someone decided to turn this towards America and homosexuality. Which his comment didn't mention America or homosexuality. It could have meant that the Ghana government has been working on an anti-LGTBQ bill for years and haven't been working on fixing the country at all. Who knows but his comment neither mentions America or gay people.

Now this woman actually is saying that Americans kill for fun, which might not be so far off. Then she said Americans sometimes eat the body. The sad part is that there were several people in the comments that believed her, that actually believed that Americans eat dead bodies.

In a news story from Cameroon a man murdered his wife and ate her body. Useless added information for you. If I had to read it you should as well.

Never the less, there is so much hatred and confusion surrounding people from western countries. Africans are constantly blaming gay people in Africa on the United States and other western countries.

I wouldn't be surprised if western citizens, especially Americans were attacked because of this hateful, misguiding, lies about homosexuality.

These are just 2 small examples of how some Africans, SOME, view the Western World, especially America. The man that made the comment about homosexuality, has no idea that in 6 African countries homosexuality isn't a crime.
