Part of the rumblings in Uganda prior to the anti-LGHTQ bill was the removal of rainbows in Ugandan classrooms. Teachers and those in opposition of the bill noted that there were repressive measures that would hinder education. This is the same in Ghana as well, where political leaders are attacking anything with the rainbow colors.

Social media users with anything rainbow are attacked and accused of being gay. That is a death sentence, In African countries just being accused of being gay can end a life.

In Kumasi Ghana several men were beaten severely and left in a gutter. Men accused them of being too effeminate, for that they were beaten almost to death.

This First Lady of the Central African Republic (CAR) was attacked via social media for the color of the fabric of her dress. At an event where bags were given out with rainbows on the sides of the bag as well. The event had nothing to do with gender or sexuality, the company just used the brightly colored bags in their campaign.

Now in many parts of Africa companies, NGO's (Non-Governmental Agencies) have to re-think any strategies they plan, without using the bright colors of the rainbow.

In Ghana, when Vice President Kamala Harris visited the country the Jubilee House, which is the counter part to the American White House, was lit in colors. The colors were said to be that of Ghana's flag and the American flag. However it appeared to be a rainbow, Ghanians were enraged about this.

Africans created a word called "Gayism" the word is flagged as derogatory. Here is what it means;

Homosexuality

Noun. gayism (uncountable) (rare) Homosexuality. (derogatory) A purported ideology behind (and promoting) gayness. (uncommon) Discrimination against gay people; hostility to gay people

Other sources have also termed this word as derogatory as well. In Africa many spread the belief that a person can be turned gay by hearing about gay people, or groomed by gays. They are also claiming that heterosexual men who have sex with children are gay people.

When studies have shown that these people having sex with children, either girls or boys aren't gay.

Pedophilic disorder is classified as mental health issue, oddly men having sex with girls (children) in some of the most homophobic African countries are excused from their crimes. Many countries turn a blind eye to men having sex with female children

How do you know if you have Pedifile?

The rainbow flag in Africa has more than ever become a symbol of rebellion. Their not only attacking the colors but the humans, the humans that are born that way. Rainbows come from nature, many believe that they're from God because they come from the sky.

In countries that are homophobic they inflict some of the worst brutality in the world on gay people. It's heartbreaking that even when a gay person isn't engaging in any homosexual acts they're targets for abuse.

This is why in many countries gay men will get married to women, some will openly make agreements with the women. Some won't out themselves they will secretly cheat on their wives with men.

In Ghana I was able to locate several Facebook pages that are for gay people to hook up and meet one another. These pages are on TikTok as well, they use symbols, they post friend only statuses when they want to speak to their gay followers.

TikTok has given people the option to create posts without faces, people can use different avatars and even a spoken voice over than their own. Most users sadly have had to remove the rainbows from their profiles, there is now a new emoji, one I won't disclose.

You can read about this secret online hook-ups in the article above. For now though the rainbow in many parts of Africa is under attack. Sadly I have a huge gay pride tattoo on my right arm, I refuse to cover it, one day I'm sure it'll cause an issue as I move around in Africa.
