You thought you had me, didn't you?

A poem to you.

He thought he had her.

At first, he wasn't sure she would ever even glance his way. He wasn't even sure why his eyes followed her every move.

He used to treat her like the most beautiful and fragile thing he had ever seen.

But you see, the trouble with humankind is that we take it all for granted.

When her eyes started meeting his, he began to look a little less. And less. And less. Until her gaze was the only one left.

He doesn't even remember the colour of her eyes anymore.

He used to touch her carefully, afraid to break her. Now his hands are like sand paper on her skin.

He started to fade; he knew how vulnerable she was and he never hesitated to make her feel it.

He was convinced he had her, because she was always there.

She wasn't sure if she could ever walk away. He was safety. But she longed for the danger.

Looking back, she realised how little they had in common, how bad of a match they were ever since the start.

But she can't say for sure if she'll ever be able to leave.

He's convinced he has her. But in the meantime, she's fading away.

He wastes his time with her by leaving her alone. He sits far away, he's never within reach and when she tries to hold him his hands begin to itch.

He never meant to hurt her. But is that really the truth?

He knew who he was before he laid his eyes on you.

She shivers and breaks a little more each time but she can't let go, not now, not this time. She might feel like she is weak but she'll be strong this time.

As she tries to walk away she's always looking back and maybe, just maybe she thinks of going back.

But not this time. Not anymore. She's crying and she's hurting as she's walking through the door.

He watches and then walks away, his favourite thing to do, he needs to learn to change that. She wanted to keep trying, she tried to help. She loves to change people and show them what they're worth. But he doesn't need saving, he needs to be on his own, maybe one day he'll get it: he's the one who's wrong.

Slowly, as he walks out the door, she grabs her phone and finds comfort in someone else's words. He's caring and he listens, he doesn't walk away.

She's getting stronger and perhaps one day she can find the strength to walk away.

She doesn't even know it but she's fading away and she can't control it but she tries, oh Lord she does. She needs to hear someone tell her how much she resembles a rose.

Symbol of bright love. She wanted to be red.

He never understood how powerful words can be, he never tried to listen so he shouts at me.

As he grows distant, they grow closer day by day. And he'll never expect it, but she'll be gone, she will.

All she ever needs is love, and he can't give her that. He is too busy lying and making her feel small. He is convinced he's trying, he is convinced it's fine.

But she is actually falling for another guy.
