You Are Enough

It’s ok to stand out. Be proud of what makes you unique

Similar to food products and clothing,

all living things are categorized–grouped by similarities and differences

and not what necessarily makes them unique.

You are a living soul who can think.

One who has feelings,

able to understand and reason,

capable of giving love and being loved.

You are a precious addition to our planet

–an essential puzzle piece

And without you, this world would not be complete.

You are the right mix–each ingredient perfectly combined

to create this amazing person that is you.

You don’t need an extra dash of anything.

You were marinated with all the right ingredients.

Baked at the ideal temperature.

You are an original–no carbon copy will come close.

The intricacies and tiny details of which you are composed will never be duplicated.

Celebrate the parts that make you stand out.

It’s ok to add color when it’s black and white

–To not follow the dotted lines

–To rearrange the patterns

As long as you know that you will always be enough.

I came across a post on Instagram that mentions that social media has negatively influenced us. We see our uniqueness as a weakness while we long to seek ‘perfection’ based on what multiple apps tell us is ideal. There is nothing wrong with wanting to do better, to get better, and to change. The question becomes, why are you seeking a change? Is it based on your internal reflection or outside influence that makes you feel that you do not fit in or makes you feel inferior?

Celebrate the parts of you that are different. They are the parts that make you unique. It’s easier to sit as a passenger and watch someone driving their bus of life while you criticize their driving. They shouldn’t be going this slow or have taken this turn or chosen this route. You think you are a much better driver than they are in directing their bus of life till you take their spot only to realize what it requires of them to move that bus. It isn’t always as it seems.
