Yellow Rose Petals

Tossed with emotion

One summer weekend away

One Vancouver Island we’ll stay

Three hot sunny August days

All spent overlooking the bay

All with one another

My sister and your brother

Children with father and mother

You imagine living forever

Yellow rose petals

In a rocky creek

Yellow rose petals

An answer for which we seek

Yellow rose petals

A formal sacrifice

Yellow rose petals

The guilts not always nice

Ash we scatter in the river

Warm tear drops, a cold shiver

Our time is a tiny sliver

On a hot sunny day by the river

A truly horrible tragedy

And all this came to be

You sharing this with me

Death is all I can see

Yellow rose petals

Tossed with emotion

Yellow rose petals

Flowing in river motion

Yellow rose petals

Wash away the pain

Yellow rose petals

Dissolve the ugly stain
