Worn Shoes

Poem By Joshua McManus

Your journey, the path that leads the way is ladened with potholes and cracks cast upon a surface that is uneven “Up and down” many would say.

But even though the appropriate footwear the hours of planning, the walking in, or the softening of the boot all add up to merely nothing. It doesn’t walk the path.

The first man who ever set upon the path stood with naked feet, not a cloth, guard, or a care in the world.

Because it’s walking that you’ll find that little bit of nothing that may grow and turn into a something, it’s walking in the dark that you may be able to find the courage to breathe through the next step.

There’s no doubt you’ll find the right way but more times the wrong, you’ll find the love, the laughter and the joy, just walking along.

You will also find the pain and you will carry that one for a while. it clings to you like a shabby suit and even though it's ugly it sits comfortably.

It’s the bad times that reinforce the good mussel it’s good times that let you breathe. But don’t breathe too long. Because nothing can exist if you’re not walking along.

Like a chain reaction that starts with those feet that know their movement. through your journey the path that leads your way. And the shoes are merely just an afterthought.

About the Creator

Joshua McManus

I am an enthusiastic word shuffler. Moving them carefully side by side hoping they will resemble some sort of story…that you may manage to read from start to finish…enjoy possibly. If not, I’ll try again.
