words vampire

a poem

one day

these words are gonna eat me alive

they are creeping up behind my back

baying for blood

depriving me of sleep

wherever I go

they are already waiting for me

in each and every room

on the bench

in the park

on every kerb of cobblestones in the town

curfew does not exist

multiplied

with every adult, child, dog, deer

sidewalks, streets

expressways

everything is bloody interesting

to describe itself

on my behalf

whilst I

merely use one finger

to type

a garnering of random syllables

hopefully with an equivocal meaning

attached to it

cautiously

to suck blood from each

living and dead thing

around me

ready or not

I don’t give a damn

until I put reality into words

watch your steps everyone!
