Without a Compass
Dialogue Poetry Challenge and Randy Baker's Prompted #5 Entry
I don't have a compass
You don't need a compass
Clouds are on the horizon
The unknown can be glorious
Uncharted destinations ahead
Embrace the moment
Isolation carving the night
The quietude brings solace
I want to wake, free from the dusk
The light always follows the dark
Free from the dead charm of yesterday
Your steadfast search will bring grace
Navigating through the expanse is tough
Forget the beneath; keep the end in sight
The dancing waves of the sea make escaping...
Difficult? A breeze it was never meant to be
Miniscule I am, in the world, it all feels pointless
Miniscule maybe, but pointless? Never
The passing of dark days of the past feels distant
Though the water is wild, time spent, lessons learned grant you the tools you need
It still feels like I'm stuck, in a spot, going nowhere, the salty allure of yesterday catching me in its trap
Leaving the past behind is far from easy, but forgiveness leaves the canvas of your future blank, open to potential. Will you take it and feel the warm glow of the sun on the breeze, heralding a new horizon?

This is so heart touching Paul!! It felt like a hug in the form of a poem. 'the salty allure of yesterday catching me in its trap' is a brilliant line! And I especially adored the ending!
Love the to and fro to take in both challenges
Stunning! Nice job!
Sir freaking Paul, you freaking used 54 words!!! Whoaaaaa!!! And you combined 2 challenges! Whoaaaaaaaa!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯 "Leaving the past behind is far from easy, but forgiveness leaves the canvas of your future blank, open to potential." Hmmm, that's so deep and true. But, I struggle with forgiveness. Loved your poem so much! 🍩🥐
I missed Randy's challenge - but then I'm not keeping up with things I want to do already. Ah well, can't do it all all the time. This is so hopeful.
Wow! Great job incorporating so many words so seamlessly and using a dialogue structure! A great entry for both challenges, Paul!
Nice work.
The imagery of the dancing waves of the sea symbolizes the challenges we face, acknowledging that escaping them may not be easy, but the journey itself holds its own beauty and growth. Thank you for sharing your introspective and thought-provoking piece.
