Why do I hate weekends?

Reasons for disliking weekends

By MINLONG LOOPublished 11 months ago 3 min read

You may have other reasons for disliking weekends, but here are some reasons why I believe people despise weekends:

Completing tasks: this one is always a tough one. At work or school, you at least have the excuse of fatigue to avoid doing tasks. On the weekend, you're stuck with them. Whether it's vacuuming, washing dishes, dusting, or any other task, it's going to be monotonous. Better complete them quickly, haha.

Relatives: sometimes your relatives can get to you, which is understandable, but sometimes they can make those two days feel like an eternity. Over time, they can become bothersome, especially when your parents keep nagging you about chores. If you have siblings, then you know how irritating they can be, constantly invading your privacy and simply being a nuisance in general.

Excessive leisure time: I know, right? But having too much free time can actually be quite tedious. Sometimes you simply run out of things to do on the weekend, and when you're bored, time seems to crawl. If you're a child, sometimes your parents won't allow you to do the things you want, which can be frustrating and dull. At least during school or work, you're occupied, and once you get home, you don't have an excess of free time.

Feeling lonely or going through a difficult time: being lonely on the weekend can be tough. Being alone means that the only company you have is yourself - well, obviously. Being alone means that you're left to deal with your emotions. Perhaps you've been using weekdays to avoid facing your emotions or mental health, and now that you're alone, you have to confront them. You might also experience FOMO (fear of missing out) from staying at home. Maybe you miss the social interaction that comes with school or work. If you're alone, try to reach out to someone; it will definitely make you feel better, and you can possibly discuss your feelings with them.

Maturing: perhaps you're maturing, and the weekends just don't seem enjoyable anymore. Maybe you'd rather spend Saturday and Sunday being productive or continuing with work instead of relaxing.

Missing your friends or colleagues: despite what people may think, I actually miss some of my classmates during weekends - mostly because they are the only people my age I can converse with. You might feel the same way, I don't know. You might not necessarily miss them

Finishing tasks: this one is always a challenging one. At work or school, you at least have the excuse of fatigue to avoid doing tasks. On the weekend, you're stuck with them. Whether it's vacuuming, washing dishes, dusting, or any other task, it's going to be repetitive. Better complete them quickly, haha.

Relatives: sometimes your relatives can get on your nerves, which is understandable, but sometimes they can make those two days feel like an eternity. Over time, they can become annoying, especially when your parents keep pestering you about chores. If you have siblings, then you know how irritating they can be, constantly invading your privacy and simply being a bother in general.

Excessive leisure time: I know, right? But having too much free time can actually be quite dull. Sometimes you simply run out of things to do on the weekend, and when you're bored, time seems to drag on. If you're a child, sometimes your parents won't allow you to do the things you want, which can be frustrating and uninteresting. At least during school or work, you're occupied, and once you get home, you don't have an excess of free time.
