why are we at this point
a world bent on mental self-destruction
the death of one soul at a time
discord and strife around every corner
divisiveness and hate are the plate of choice
where facts are lies and lies are facts
controlled by few with dominion over many
there is no harmony anymore
it is gone like the behemoths of ancient years
love is foreign and self-centeredness commands the view
countries pitted against each other
regions angrily point fingers at others
circle the wagons the plague bearers approach
they give rationalizations to justify their choices
it is simply a pretext to hate and vile
there is no love left
how did we end up here
it was easy

Perfect Little Pirate
The rough, sodden rope bit into her fingers as she swung over the roiling water far below. Reaching out with the toe of her boot, she managed to catch hold of the rain-soaked railing of the ship- and promptly slipped. Throwing herself forward, she landed hard on the deck, slamming her elbows against the wood planks. The sharp yelp of pain quickly bubbled into a laugh, and she rolled onto her back, laughing up at the gray sky as a torrent of rain washed away the soot covering her skin.
