“Write what you know,”

Well you see, that’s the problem, you know?

I know nothing; nothing I write is about what I know-

Why do you think I was writing in the first place?

“Write what you know.”

Maybe I thought at the end of spewing all these discordant thoughts onto the page,

In the process of externalizing my jumble of feelings,

After giving words to mess that makes up my Self,

Maybe I would learn something worth knowing.

“Write what you know,”

As if I know anything.

As if any of us do.

I’m just glad I’m writing again.

Wrestling,

Learning,

Revealing

The way I see the world. The way it sees me.

“Write what you know.”

I think,

instead,

I will write.

Until there’s something to know.
