Strapped in my vest

The weight crushing my chest

Why does life always feel like a test

Trapped in the vestments of life

Listening to each other’s strife

Trauma bonds

Because that’s what our memory holds on to the most

Not realizing it’s what makes us feel like toast

Soft hearts roasted to hell

Turned hard by years of pain

Searching for the sun through the rain

But we can make it

If we huddle together

To wait out the weather
