We’ve watched this movie
Our entire lives,
From behind the eyes.
What once were infantile memories,
We watched grow
Into nostalgia.
We saw faces age,
Making sweeter the memories
As gone as the days
We once knew.
The warmth that came,
With remembering,
With traveling back
To a beautiful sliver in time.
To recall
All the days
That had both light
And dark.
That brought
The threads of joy
That keep us hanging on.
The ones who walked before
And those who follow after
Impress upon one another
The trials
Of time
And survival.
They hold close
Those who made life
Livable.
How small man must have felt
In the expanse of earth
Without nearly the thread
Binding him together
To others who care
And wish him well.
