I’m terrified by the

Words,

Threatening.

To erupt.

An obscene alphabet-

Spewing,

From my chest -

Vitriol -

Like magma bursting,

With volcanic ferocity.

Obliterating any that cross -

Its path.

Molten,

Fury.

Churned underground,

Smouldering.

For a century past.

Fuelled by loss -

And defeat.

- And desire.

Waiting in the

Dark catacombs of the earth.

Words -

Bitter and toxic.

Dangerous.

I fear the damage they might do.

Not to you,

Of course,

Never.

But me.
