~

emaciated faces dreaming emaciated dreams,

compassion torn asunder, trampled beneath

lavish wealthy means.

is it foolish to imagine that egotistic humans may unravel,

placing fundamental kindness above their judge's eager gavel?

surely somewhere amidst this world's selfishness and pain,

earth's people sing brightly in sweet, harmonious refrain.

Thank you so much for reading :)

Just wanting to envision some hope for this world. Had to go back and find the Cocoa Cola commercial from the 70's. If you were alive then, you know the one, 'I'd like to teach the world to sing...'

Here's the clip if you want to reminisce, much love to you all. ~H

I'm so interested in this image of unraveling egos. Sometimes, we can be tied up in all these knots and what a relief when someone comes over and helps us start to untangle them! This is such a refreshing read.

  • "is it foolish to imagine that egotistic humans may unravel, placing fundamental kindness above their judge's eager gavel?" These were the favourite lines! Also, thank you for saying "If you were alive then", it made me feel so young. Hehehehehehehe. Loved your Acrostic!

Goodness you keep the punches coming! Another one that is so good and highlights the darker side of humanity. Loved it!

  • Another wonderful acrostic Heather

My hopeful side is smiling from ear to ear. The realist is seeing an impossible dream. I'm trying to convert her though. Love your poem. Love love love..

  • This is great! Great entry!

Your poem beautifully expresses the longing for kindness and compassion in a world often overshadowed by selfishness and pain. It reminds us to hold onto hope and strive for harmony amidst life's challenges. Thanks for sharing!

Wait, that was a commercial. I remember that song. Would it not be nice for, 'earth's people to sing brightly in sweet, harmonious refrain'. Hope springs eternal.

A wonderful wish and wouldn’t it be nice. The possibilities of kindness is such a lost art now adays

Very nice! It's powerful in its scarcity of words - which is very appealing to me. 😉😊 I just really love it! 🥰

This feels hopeful...without ignoring the hopelessness. Well done, again another fine acrostic...love too many lines to highlight.
