There was a whisper in the wind
Of what was to come,
Following a breeze
With the scent of salt
And a reminder of sea,
A storm brewing under her skin
Licking at the edges,
Burning skin
Roaring ears-
Turning forms hazy
As demeanor changes
And demons awaken
In a mind once focused on peace-
An island all her own
Preparing for an invasion
From the high country,
Reverting to old ways
That taught her to survive,
Barbed thorns and tall towers
Stones piled high
A fortress incapable of invasion
As a crusade prepared
To convert her,
Carry her from the old ways
That had settled her roots deep
And brightened the horizon,
That had turned the world to a sea
Of wild flowers and peaceful skies-
But even a paradise has its moments,
Where it turns to hurricane force
With the beauty of Arcadia,
The goal of protecting
A utopia it was created to guard.
She was prepared to battle
And hoped they knew how to fight.

you a lovely work keep going
Paradise is never something to be taken for granted or assumed to be forever. Neither are battles once won made eternal, but maintained & preserved only through constant vigilance.
