Into the City

Dark

Dingy

Dank

The underground

Avoid the tunnel dust

As the train

Roles into the station

Passengers scurry

Rush to the platform

Pushing through the crowds

While others scramble

Tossing their luggage

Onto the train

Frantic movements

Heartbeats

Settle down

Alone in the aisle

Waiting

Watching

Longing for the sun

As the train

Lurches forward

Conductor calls

Next stop

Twenty minutes

I love traveling by train, looking out the window, and watching the world pass by. Leaving the train station, in the cities, you see the hidden world, abandoned buildings/cars, graffiti, warehouses and so much more. As the train travels, the sights shift. High-rise buildings and row homes give way to the suburbs. Neat little houses, hidden along the way, opening up to waterways and highways.

Thanks a million for reading my poems. If you enjoyed it, please check out my other poems and short stories. It will mean the world to me! ~KAS
