Trivialties

the art of distraction

I try to fill the

Sticky silence between us

With little useless things

Trivialties

Excerpts from quotes

Gleaned scrolling through

Social media walls

Subtitles continually panning

On a Netflix screen

Of a foreign series

Song lyrics and audiobook

Tracks

Boxes full of old memories

I must sort & unpack

Discard

Of another time

Of another life

With a similar silence

So painfully familiar

That I still hold my breath

So the physical pressure

Is what I can focus on

Instead of what has been

Unraveling

right in front of my eyes

(The Story of Us...)

sad poetry
