Today

A poem about focus

Yesterdays clothes had been washed and draped over chairs to dry inside

A natural lavender scented soy candle was glowing

And she turned on Youtube playing Enya’s Watermark album

With her state of the art tv and bluetooth speakers

Suddenly, there was no yesterday, only today

No blind white ants trying to burrow in her walls

No poisonous toads invading her yard

Just harmless green frogs

And there where no white tail spiders or the red backs in her garden

The rain brought only harmless tree Arachne, and those she liked

And she saw that everything was how it should be

With her long poncho hiding her hands on the controls, she quickly set of in her wheel chair

Into the rain, the beautiful and gentle rain

Staring back at the gorgons with serpentine locks guarding her home

She tore of the locket from her key chain

A painted image of some dude with a reflective shield and a sword

And she threw it down the drain flooded by the rain

She went tearing down the path at a dangerous pace

And she laughed in all her freedom

While the rain washed away yesterday

And left only the presence of today.
