To the Little Black Boy Who Bleached his Skin
By Troy D. Riyan
To the little black boy who bleached his skin,
don't you know you got something that they wish they did?
But since they don't, they work to make you hate what you didn't give...
That's what God did.
Covered you from head to toe in golden melanin.
A body made love to by the sun,
Dripping in an essence you never asked for once,
but chosen to be wrapped up,
Because your people are the ones.
To the little black boy who bleached his skin,
You've already won, you don't have to try and win.
Forgive every time you heard, "cute for a dark-skinned boy."
Replace the insecurities with black boy joy.
No longer let your confidence be destroyed.
Your skin is something to celebrate and enjoy!
Nobodies fetish, nobodies chocolate toy!
Born from the pyramids, and inside you theres a knowing.
"This little white jar, with this white & peach label, and this white cream... ain't for me."
To the little black boy who bleached his skin...
Put the jar down and look within, your color ain't a sin.
