In Memory... Aunty Leslie

In Memory of the Ramos Matriarchs- the root of our strength

An uneven stare, Escapes sun's glare

captures me. Just sitting there.

Rays of light drawn through my hair

My body resistant

This feeling persistent

Stretching, etching, catching

My breathe

for what is death?

All this time where was it hiding

while she was fighting, us subsiding

Before this enrapture

How did it capture?

Forever and ever

This eptiness dissever

But I'm not hat clever

Heart beat- pitch, drum

A towering conundrum

With each tick tock

Of every clock

Death stalk- hearts lock

And then a knock

Grasping knees,,, rock

No words to talk

No mouth to speak

Not even a whisper to leak

Not one floor to creak

No one echoes a single sound

As hollow footsteps touch the ground

As visible- quick as the shiver

I felt the gray, I saw the quiver

Quicker still, the wind sliced through each cloud,

Fingers outstretched, but there was no sound but loud.

Consequently the chaos, mellows the mayhem,

Finally my appendages found freedom in rhythm.

Then silently we all exhale

For this life we did not fail

For each 'er last breath touched another world

One to us- not yet unfurled

Each crystal of life escaped in the last

held one more second in her grasp

Each softly released to the air

Helped to push her way up there-

Where she sits in a quilt of our love

Thoughts and prayers are benedictions falling from above

woven in the gentle air

strings of laughter, threads of care-

Now each time we feel the sky's commotion,

Stand in the midst of the fiercest ocean,

Fell the warmth of a gentle sun

watch it set as day is done

we will know that she is here

To carefully catch each falling tear

To pull each smile a little tighter...

Teach us everyday what it means: to be a fighter.
