Thoughts on a loved one sleeping / To have the patience

When you fall asleep while comforting me

When I know that you’re asleep, you’ll fall into my shoulder (please)

I know that when you’re deep in sleep

Your breath is heavy

Slowly, sink

Although I want your weight on mine,

I’ll kindly blissfully subside the will,

at least

to softly be

inside your space as you find peace

What I’d like the most

Is to know how and why to delicately hold

A wounded bird

Broken shards of glass

Or a cut to the palm

With purpose, directly, curiously

Strength of a hand with patience in knowing

This little thing is fragile

In pieces, distress

But I will fearlessly reach,

Lift slowly

Take deliberately

Apply pressure

Until,

until…
