Thoughts on a loved one sleeping / To have the patience
When you fall asleep while comforting me
When I know that you’re asleep, you’ll fall into my shoulder (please)
I know that when you’re deep in sleep
Your breath is heavy
Slowly, sink
Although I want your weight on mine,
I’ll kindly blissfully subside the will,
at least
to softly be
inside your space as you find peace

What I’d like the most
Is to know how and why to delicately hold
A wounded bird
Broken shards of glass
Or a cut to the palm
With purpose, directly, curiously
Strength of a hand with patience in knowing
This little thing is fragile
In pieces, distress
But I will fearlessly reach,
Lift slowly
Take deliberately
Apply pressure
Until,
until…
