I've know all my life. the construction and maintenance of the male ego. in society and culture. in the bodies of young and seasoned hearts. in the grammar and philosophy that lay the foundation from where your words breathe from. all angst. all energy. all the time. frenetic. always so quick to summarize. to narrow in. in order to narrow out. why.
Suppression of the witch with in. they fear the fire. and what it will consume of them. and what it will leave. for them. vulnerability. your male ego, small in the attention it can offer. experienced. all kinds of mothers be belittled for existing. we all watched as young women are ridiculed for liking. what they like. our grandmothers become invisible. some thing not to be. why.
I'm sorry. you were a captive audience. learning to please. an idea. because you were afraid. of the dark. afraid of the trenches. afraid of the branches that hit and scratch the face of the pioneer. the one. that says no. when the pressure. says obey. abuse or be used. the motto of an idea. make america. great again. a slogan. of words. not a will. why.
why the pageantry. why do you need to be riled up. why do you need something to start your day. and some thing to occupy your mind. why are you not free. yet. male ego. all you have done. all that has been spoken into belief systems. why are you still in war. not by your choice. but you claim it. like it is. why.
why are you not a dinosaur. why can't you see the fairy queens. why do you visit nature. when you are made up of the very essence. escape what exactly. why do you run. while staying in space. do you know flexibility. she lives in the air. oxygen. you use. without grace.

I Can Be Scary Too
That little shit has messed with my garden for the last time. The way he wreaks havoc on my strawberry plants is a crime. I’ve had enough of watching him through the glass window. Sauntering around with his cassette while I wait for his sabotage to explode. He thinks my time and resources are so disposable. Well, I find his arrogance opposable. If I ever catch him in my garden again, I’ll be serving up my brand of sabotage. Then be tossing him in my disposable bin behind the garage. Maybe even bury him and cover it in a small patch of grass. Then admire his grave from behind my window’s glass. I’ll listen to his cassette while I tend to my plants of strawberry. After that, no one will doubt that I can be scary.

The Longest Minute
A minute. Sixty seconds to say goodbye. That’s all the time that I had left with him as the needle slid into his leg. I stared into his drooping eyes, looked at the blood-tainted saliva dripping from the corner of his mouth. They said that this was the best thing that we could do for him, a last kind act for a best friend…but if that were the case, then why did my heart feel so heavy?
