We were taught to go to school
Sit down and learn the golden rule
The simple truths how things came to be
Insight we learned about the world we see
On the ladder of life we rushed to climb up
When all we really wanted was to grow up
Like a bell that has been rung some say
That youth is wasted on the young
Fertile minds seeking what they don’t know
Wisdom becomes the match to spark their glow
Just like the story of Adam and Eve
Knowledge forever changed the world we see
We search for the answers while we are here
Understanding that truth comes when we draw near
Our world seems more lost year after year
We watch our leaders trade integrity for fame
Only a fraction of who they were still remains
Their biggest ambition is to find someone to blame
Like children on the schoolyard saying shame shame shame
Mounting troubles for the powers that be
For they know the world we see
