Sworn to uphold
How did you get so low
With sirens blaring
As the faces are staring
A young man just trying to be
What did they see
Our world teeters swayed by might
We’ve lost the truth of wrong and right
The youth are watching you and me
What lessons shall we make sure they see
In our history justice once hung from a tree
Try to erase from history this indelible stain
Weakest of minds only want to assess blame
Without knowledge history repeats again and again
Fragile minds just wanting to be
What shall they see
Justice falters as the hunter takes aim
Political projectiles take aim at the body time and again
When the populous cares less about what’s right and only who wins
How do we find the middle ground and where do we begin
Neighbor to neighbor and friend to friend if we stand together our adversaries can not win
Let’s turn the tide is how we must begin
As a nation this how we must be
Let us let us guard what they see
