The moral dilemmas faced by a young conscript on the front lines

Are heavy, and weigh down on his shoulders like a ton of bricks

He's torn between loyalty to his country and his sense of right

Between the orders of his superiors and his own moral code

He sees the horrors of war up close and personal

The screams of the wounded, the tears of the bereaved

He wonders if this is really what he signed up for

If the cause he's fighting for is worth the cost

But duty calls, and he must answer

Even if it means putting his own beliefs aside

He's just a pawn in a game played by those in power

But the weight of his choices will stay with him forever

So he puts on a brave face, and marches on

Hoping that one day, he'll be able to look back

And find that he made the right decisions

Despite the moral dilemmas that plagued him all along
