The Tell-Tale Heart

The heart beats in my mind, taunting me with its relentless rhythm. I try to block it out but it's impossible. The sound is a constant reminder of the terrible crime I committed. The guilt consumes me. The sound of the heart will never stop, it will haunt me until the end of my days.

My mind races with fear and dread,

As I lay in bed, unable to rest.

The beating of my heart echoes in my head,

As the memory of the crime I confessed.

I thought I had gotten away with it,

But the guilt consumes me day and night.

The sound of that old man's heart, I can't quit,

As it echoes in my mind with all its might.

The beating of my heart was too much for me to take,

I couldn't shake the guilt of what I had done.

I gave into my madness and made a terrible mistake,

Now my mind is forever undone.
