With each step we take, our ego does grow
A towering giant, our ambition does show
We crave the spotlight, the praise and the fame
Our ego's fire, our drive, our heart's flame
But beware, dear one, the dangers of pride
For it can blind us, and our fall will be wide
The ego's rise, a double-edged sword
It can lift us high, but also absorb.

Exactly it does blind us. Ego is very very subtle and tricky.
