The perfect song

to make up for imperfect things I've said

I wanted to write you the perfect song

to make up for imperfect things I've said

Give me a moment, it shouldn't take long

Don't watch the clock, she lies, we'll be misled

I wanted to refine the melody

To make something beautiful, like you are

If I close my eyes, I can almost see

Our karaoke, bust out in the car

What's so soothing about a rhyme

What's addictive about singing in time

It's an art, it's a craft, like with popsicle sticks

It's a mysterious, oh, a curious fix

I can't seem to shape my hopes into verse

All the ways I wish I could make you feel

trapped inside me, however I rehearse

I gamble and I beg, but I can't deal

Tell me how, tell me what to say

Drop a beat now, take it away

I would write you the perfect song

But this is taking too long
