The Parade For Pride
We Are Better Together Because Then We Can Build
This is a new one for the After The Parade Vocal Challenge.
While being part of Pride celebrations is a wonderfully inclusive feeling we still face rampant homophobia, misogyny and racism.
This is a villanelle about the situation when we leave our loving and inclusive party and are once more alone in the world.
πI've included the beautiful sparse version of "Over The Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole π³οΈβπ
ππ³οΈβππππ³οΈβππππ³οΈβππππ³οΈβππ
I Was There In The Parade For Pride
I Was There With With Many Loving Friends
We Were There To Be On The Right Side
ππ³οΈβππ
At Home Alone And Iβm Scared Inside
The Homophobes Must Fail In The End
I Was There In The Parade For Pride
ππ³οΈβππ
At Home Alone Again We Have Tried
To Bring Us All Together Like Friends
We Were There To Be On The Right Side
ππ³οΈβππ
At Home Alone Saw The News And Cried
The Hate Is There And There Seems No End
I Was There In The Parade For Pride
ππ³οΈβππ
At Home Alone We Will Take Our Strides
To Put Things Right, We Will Not Pretend
We Were There To Be On The Right Side
ππ³οΈβππ
We Will Stand Up For All That Is Right
Hold Our Hands We Are Always Your Friends
I Was There In The Parade For Pride
We Were There To Be On The Right Side
