I dreamt I was invited to have drinks with the moon
The nightlife, a daydream
but it ended too soon
*
The drinks had umbrellas
and the snacks, calorie free
He sang a cappella
he wrote songs about me
*
A fast peppy beat
but the words made me sad
It said, in order to find peace
I'd have to stop being daft.
*
And I knew he was playing
cause, when I rolled my eyes
He offered his soothsaying
to my pleasant surprise
*
His magic was the best
that I'd ever seen
And I have to confess
he did a mean smoke and screen
*
And as the sun crested, and began to rise
he escorted me home
Where the light fragmentized
lighting up the whole room
With such a romantic glow
how he got so savvy, Ill never know
*
Then I hinted that I'd like to do that again
he smiled when he said
It's best if we just remain friends
And I got all embarrassed
cause that's not what I meant
I stood out on the terrace
in my discontent
*
Knowing full well
if he showed up tonight
I'd fly down the stairwell
full of joy and delight

How dare he say let's just be friends?! You're so amazing with these poems!
To have someone like that in your life. To be someone like that in someone else's life. I don't know if I could handle it anymore. Stunningly beautiful poem, Kelli.
What a tale you tell. It's like a dream wrapped up in a song. Just gorgeous.
