Blink blink. Blink.

They lay

on the grass

in an open field

and watched as the sun faded

and the clouds turned orange

then red

then gray

and the full moon cast a dim luminescence.

Three little lights blinked on and off above them;

dipping and dodging in slow circles.

“I’ve heard insects are seeking the moon,”

“but the moon is really just a guide

helping them to find each other.”
