The Moments on the Way
A Free Verse Poem
It’s the light of the sun
that beams on your face
with gentle warmth;
and you beam back
with your own light
that others can bask in,
and be warmed by themselves.
.
It’s the filling of one’s heart,
like a steaming drink
against the frigid cold
to keep your body cherished;
an intimate embrace
from one whose soul
connects with yours.
.
It’s the unfiltered sounds
that escape your lips and core,
echoing across the room
as your belly clenches
with a glee unraveling
your entire being into
cracked toothy smiles.
.
These moments are
a mystery to mankind,
when they are yet simple
to conceive in life.
Mountains need not climbed
to reach the sun and sky,
only stillness and present mind.
.
These moments are
the little wonders,
the bliss of the journey,
up the mountain.
Not the mountain itself.
Can you see them?
Can you feel them?
.
They surround your path,
seeking the discovery
not only from your eyes,
but with your mind.
They make the mountain
a glorious feat to climb:
The moments on the way.

The side of the mountain can be as glorious as its peak, sometimes 😁
This is a great encouraging poem Lindsay 😊. "Mountains need not climbed to reach the sun and sky" was such a good and meaningful line in the poem 👍🏽👍🏽
"You beam back" is such a warm and loving line. Thanks for putting this collection of beautiful moments together, Lindsay <3
