The Lost Story
The storyteller has forgotten the story
The poem is a reflection on the state of the world today, where the main characters of the story - the people - have become secondary to the forces of greed, corruption, and violence. The poem suggests that the world has become entangled in a web of lies and deceit, and that the only way to break free is to remember the true story - the story of hope, love, and compassion.
*****
O Beloved...!
The storyteller has forgotten the story.
All the characters have slipped from his hands.
Morning is lost in the mist of evening,
And the sun has risen in the night.
(I hear that the moon and sun have also been accused of adultery.)
The lake has quietly lain down in the crossroads of the city,
And fountains of water have sprung up from the streets.
Flocks of birds are chirping on the roads,
And the blue sky has spread its sheet over the cities.
All the main characters of the story have become secondary,
And the story:
(In the torn heels of the cobbler uncle sitting at the corner of the street,
In the eyes of dozens of laborers sitting in the city square every morning
With spades in their hands,
In the mixed yellowness of hope and greed,
In the sacred dirt stuck in the nails of innocent children working in workshops, hotels, and shops)
Has become entangled.
O Beloved...!
The storyteller has forgotten the story.
All the characters have slipped from his hands.
