A kiss in your eyes is all I need,

But a hasty "I love you" makes my heart bleed.

Don't tell me you love me until you are sure,

For the wishing and waiting I can endure;

But a lie from your lips to flatter my heart

Can give our relationship a rotten start.

What you say now may be true,

When you carelessly say "I love you",

But don't tell me now (this may all seem strange,

But a young man's heart is subject to change!)

So don't tell me sweet words to lead me on,

Then hurt me when those feelings are gone.

So simply give me a kiss in your eyes

Until you finally realize

That your feelings for me are true

And that I was patiently waiting and loving you too.
