A tiny speck, upon a leaf so green,

A hungry caterpillar, never to be seen.

Inch by inch, it munches slow,

Leaves disappearing, where will it go?

Black and bumpy, with tiny feet,

It crawls and explores, a curious feat.

Spin a silken cocoon, a cozy home,

The world outside, it can't roam.

Inside the darkness, a magical thing,

The caterpillar changes, takes flight on the wing.

Wings of color, bright and bold,

A butterfly emerges, a story untold.

Fluttering free on the summer breeze,

Sipping sweet nectar from the flowers with ease.

Once a crawling creature, small and low,

Now a butterfly soaring, a wondrous show.
